Meet Dr. Michelle Mejia, most people butcher her last name with saying a ‘j’ rather than an ‘h’ sound so feel free to call her Dr. Michelle or Dr. M for short. She grew up in the small town of Merced, California (fondly known as Merdead for being in the middle of nowhere but 2 hours away from everything). She moved to Texas three years ago during chiropractic school because California was not the place for her and it’s the only other state that has decent Mexican food (her favorite and the true reason she married into a Mexican family).
Chiropractic for her is not just a form of treatment, but a lifestyle. She received her first chiropractic adjustment from her dad within minutes of being born. She developed a passion for empowering women during their pregnancy and postpartum journeys by witnessing the home births of her five younger siblings. She has since been a birth attendant for a total of 9 home births. She is passionate about educating, advocating, and supporting mommas so that they can make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their families. There is a special place in her heart for postpartum mommas whom she loves to encourage and empower during the major life transition of motherhood.
With her passion for family wellness, she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Family Studies from CSU Sacramento. In between undergrad and chiropractic school, she worked as a behavior technician for 3 years where she taught acquisition, verbal, social, and self-care skills to autistic children and infants. Dr. Michelle continued her education at Parker University in Dallas, Texas where she received both her Doctorate in Chiropractic and Master’s of Science in Functional
Nutrition. She is a firm believer that health comes from the inside out, so she is passionate about supporting her clients with diet, supplement, and overall wellness guidance. She takes a holistic approach as our functional nutritionist with a focus on restoring hormonal balance by considering the many factors and aspects that make up your well-being. She goes over specific laboratory testing to uncover the root cause of your symptoms and then develops an action plan with individualized lifestyle changes and recommendations.
You may find Dr. Michelle on local trails with her hubby of 6 years, signing at a local deaf event with her family, tasting wine in the hill country with her girlfriends, or singing her heart out to Disney tunes at karaoke night. One of her nieces attends Texas School for the Deaf so if you know sign language, she would love to practice signing during your next visit in the office.
